emotional literacy
We are an Emotional Literacy-based service operating a relationship-focused model.
What is Emotional Literacy, and why is it important?
Emotional Literacy involves recognising and understanding our own emotions, understanding their context, and identifying appropriate ways to respond. It also encompasses implementing these responses while considering others' feelings and adjusting our reactions accordingly.
Developing Emotional Literacy supports authentic emotional resilience, aiding us in nurturing children to become emotionally intelligent adults. This evidence-based approach has been shown to improve long-term outcomes for children's mental health.
By focusing on Emotional Literacy, we aim to provide children with the skills necessary for long-term positive mental health and well-being.
Emotional literacy is a specialist area—it requires dedicated training, deep understanding, and appropriate clinical supervision. Our entire careers are built around it because it is nuanced and vital.
Investing in emotional literacy from an early age is one of the most powerful ways to support children’s long-term wellbeing. Early intervention and proactive learning help children build resilience, understand their emotions, and develop the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
At Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health CIC, we offer in-person workshops and online webinars for both children and adults, empowering families, educators, and professionals with the knowledge and strategies to nurture strong emotional wellbeing. By creating safe and brave spaces for emotional learning, we can protect children’s mental health and give them the best possible foundation for the future.
