school support packages

bridging the gap for mental health

Are you interested in further enhancing the mental health provision and wellbeing ethos in your school? At Bridge the Gap, we offer tailored packages of comprehensive mental health support for students, parents, and teachers. Please note that we have limited availability for practitioners in schools as part of a bespoke package.

In the face of increasing mental health crisis, suicides, and self-harm affecting school communities, our primary goal is to support schools with the knowledge and tools to ensure the safety and well-being of their students and staff.

If you are interested in a personalised support package for your school, so your team can access specialised resources bespoke to your school community, then we are happy to visit your school and listen from you about the issues you are facing, and any gaps you may have in your support; we will then create a bespoke package proposal. Get in touch today and discover how our initiatives enhance classroom engagement and learning.

To explore a package for your school then please get in touch with Richard Wyman richardwyman@jwbridgethegap.com

Richard can arrange a time to visit your school for a relaxed conversation around your schools needs.

Training

At Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health, our primary focus is on delivering training in essential areas that contribute to the well-being of teachers, communities and children and families. We are dedicated to supporting schools by providing a reflective space for learning, empowering them with skills and knowledge that can impact staff, children and the wider community.

Emotional Literacy underpins all of our training; exploring how it connects to the key areas of learning and development. With the focus on neuroscience and child development, we can delve deeper into topics often only touched upon superficially, allowing us to make a more profound impact.

Our team ensures that participants gain a comprehensive understanding of mental health and feel confident in integrating all the necessary elements to effectively support mental health concerns. Practical tools and resources are shared for you to be able to make positive changes to processes and systems with ease.

At the bottom of this page you'll find some of the areas we specialise in. If there's a particular topic you're interested in exploring that isn't listed, please reach out to us. We will be honest about whether we are the best fit to assist you in that area.

Our ultimate goal is to enhance child mental health within our local city and beyond. Our training equips you with the tools to be an active contributor to making a positive difference.

Parent support

Since 2017 Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health, has developed a wide range of workshops catered to parents, aimed at boosting their confidence in actively supporting their child's mental health. Our workshops are designed to share valuable information in an accessible and relatable manner to empower parents to effectively assist their children.

We deliver workshops at our premises but schools can also fund us to deliver parent empowerment sessions within school premises. We also provide emotional literacy workshops for both parents and children. Our workshops are versatile, conducted both in-person and online, and always tailored to suit the specific needs, ages, and concerns of the school community. Throughout the sessions, we encourage and welcome any questions.

All of our sessions provide a safe and non-judgmental environment, with a relaxed and informal delivery style. We deliver one off sessions and also have a 3-week parent empowerment programme with the following themes:

Week 1: Helping children understand anxiety
Week 2: Managing anger outbursts effectively
Week 3: Equipping your child with effective coping strategies

We also deliver parent sessions on self-harm, low mood and depression in children and boosting self-esteem.

online curriculm

During the pandemic, we transitioned our training to the online world, developing online courses for parents and teachers to engage with at their convenience. Additionally, we crafted online lessons dedicated to providing schools with professionally created emotional education, adaptable for both home and classroom learning. This initiative culminated in the establishment of a comprehensive online platform for schools.

Currently, the platform comprises five one (minimum, some are up to 3 hours) hour CPD sessions and over 40 schemes of work tailored to both primary and secondary education. We  also offer teachers and parents of the school community access to specialised courses, namely 'Supporting Child Mental Health: an in-depth approach' and 'Supporting an Anxious Child'.

Training sessions cover important and relevant topics such as anxiety, positive relationships, understanding children's traumatic experiences, emotional literacy and mental health crisis in children.

The content covers a wide range of topics, including anxiety, mental health, self-esteem, goal setting, growth mindset, friendships, empathy, identity, anger, and emotional literacy. These schemes of work can be delivered by appropriately trained school staff as part of their in-house interventions, in small groups, or as whole class lessons. Should you desire further information about the content and how your school can obtain complete access for an annual fee of £1000, please contact our school liaison officer, Richard Wyman, via email at richardwyman@jwbridgethegap.com or by phone at 01332 600827.

As the platform continues to expand with new content, rest assured that your pricing remains constant, regardless of the additional materials incorporated.
